Graduate Overview

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at George Mason University offers graduate programs at the master and Ph.D. levels.

The Physics B.S. / Accelerated M.S. Program allows highly qualified and motivated undergraduates to earn both B.S. and M.S. degrees in five years. The Applied and Engineering Physics M.S. Program offers a terminal M.S. in applying physics techniques and knowledge to technical problems in the workplace, or, with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with an emphasis in electrical engineering.

The Computational Sciences and Informatics Ph.D. Program, administered by the Department of Computational and Data Sciences, applies computational methods to scientific problems. The Physical Sciences Ph.D. Program permits study in astronomy, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, or physics, or some combination of these. A proposal for a Physics Ph.D. is under evaluation, and a Proposed Physics Ph.D. FAQ is available.

So that qualified students have an opportunity to learn more about the graduate programs in Physics and Astronomy at GMU, the Department offers an expenses paid visit to Mason. Check it out.
