(1 April 2009) Philip Naudus, a Mason junior and double major in physics and math, has just been named a 2009 Goldwater Scholar, Mason's first. Having grown up in Fairfax, where he was home-schooled, Philip has substantial research experience, under the supervision of Drs. Nathalia Peixoto (ECE), Indu Satija (PHYS), and Karen Sauer (PHYS), as well as at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. He sings bass in the Mason Chorale, volunteers in the community, and is active in campus organizations.

(24 March 2009) Harold Geller receives a "Telly" Award for his participation in Astrocast TV. Founded in 1978, the Telly Award is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video, film and internet productions.

(7 January 2009) Mason Cosmic Ray physicist Robert Ellsworth, a member of the "Milagro" team cited as making a discovery that is in one of the "top ten physics stories of 2008."
