Biographical Sketch:
- Shobita Satyapal.
Dr. Satyapal received a B.S. in Physics from Bryn Mawr College and a Ph.D. in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Rochester. After postdoctoral work at the National Air and Space Museum and Goddard Space Flight Center, she was employed by the Space Telescope Science Institute and an Instrument Scientist for the James Webb Space Telescope, scheduled to be launched in 2013. In 1998, Dr. Satyapal received a NASA Presidential Early Career Award, prior to joining the faculty at GMU in 2001. Her research interests have included observational extragalactic astronomy utlizing both ground- and space-based imaging and spectroscopic data and infrared instrumentation for ground- and space-based applications.
