Title

Science and Christianity: What Psalm 19 Declares about Science

Abstract

Biblical literalism, especially with regard to the book of Genesis, is often argued as the basis for creation science. However, a literal reading of the Hebrew text in Psalm 19 asserts that the universe tells the story of its own creation. The psalmist claims that understanding, and much more, is found in the study of nature. This bold assertion suggests that the study of nature itself provides more information about creation than is found in Genesis. The goal of science is to tell the story of the universe, based upon evidence and reason. A literal reading of the Psalms explicitly supports this view of science.
