Title

Exactly what makes a theory scientific? -- with a look at two case studies: string theory and intelligent design

Faculty Member

Robert Ehrlich

Abstract

In this talk I consider exactly what makes a theory scientific. In the second part of the talk I (a non-string theorist) compare and contrast two theories, i.e., intelligent design and string theory, and see on what basis, if any, only the latter might qualify as being within the bounds of science.
