Synchronization in a Blinking Network
Communication among interacting elements within a dynamical network is not necessarily constant in time. In a more extreme case, either due to practical constraints or by design, transmission of signals might be limited to an on-off fashion. For neurons within a neuronal ensemble, information is typically transmitted in a pulse-like "action potential." In this talk, we will examine the effect on the synchronization in a general class of globally coupled networks when the coupling is switched in a blinking on-off fashion.
