Abstract

Ensembles of interacting elements can exhibit collective coherent behavior. Examples include fireflies and an audience clapping. In this talk, we review some of the classic mathematical results in this field and show how these can be extended to interacting populations of elements. This extension is important for application to neurobiological systems.
